A&G Job Zone Case Study

Client ED got in touch with Phoenix Enterprise Centre to see if we could help her. She had been working but had recently been dropped to a zero-hour contract, and wasn’t sure which way to turn, had lost all confidence and felt her age was a big barrier. She also felt that she was out of touch with how to apply for jobs digitally, as well as not being sure what benefit if any she was entitled to or how to make a claim.

Our Advice & Guidance team arranged an appointment for the Client to come to our Whitehaven Outreach I.T. Centre the following day.

On arrival at the Centre, the client was feeling anxious, not sure what to do or which route to take. Not confident about finding the type of work she was really looking for which she stressed was not a customer-facing role due to her lack of confidence. The client felt out of touch with the job market and believed her age was going to hold her back.

We put the Client at ease engaging in conversation in a positive way while explaining and guiding her through the process of how to navigate the online job sites. She was given support in applying for two jobs which suited her needs and expectations and also helped to apply for Contribution Based JSA which the Client didn’t realise she was entitled to.

Through talking to the Client in a positive and friendly manner she became more relaxed and during the visit began to gain more confidence in finding a suitable role and left us feeling a lot calmer and with an action plan.

That same day, the Client received a call to go for an interview that same evening and was delighted to be offered the job; in the Client’s own words ‘My ideal job’

“You have helped me go from almost being paralysed with anxiety to a job offer in under 8 hours.”

The client also received an offer for the second job application we helped her apply for.
