Who is Phoenix Enterprise Centre?

Phoenix Enterprise Centre (PEC) is a Community Interest Company. Our assets and any profit we make are used for the benefit of the Community.

Established in 1985, the purpose of Phoenix Enterprise Centre was to address economic deprivation in West Cumbria by promoting economic regeneration and supporting people in the formerly named Copeland district to overcome barriers to employment.

What we do

• We offer the provision of low-cost managed workspace for entrepreneurs and businesses to start up and/or expand. We provide 44,000 sq. ft. of workspace/office accommodation on easy in, easy out licence agreement terms. Currently, 31 businesses, employing over 200 people are based within our accommodation.
• We offer Advice and Guidance services to those at risk of redundancy, recently unemployed and benefit-dependent. this includes free supported access to computers and the internet to claim benefits, do job searches and apply for work online. Weekly Food Pantry deliveries to Copeland residents who are suffering financial hardship also form part of our support services and we work with Partner agencies towards helping residents tackle financial hardship.
• Through capital refurbishment of derelict buildings, we aim to bring these back into use and provide additional workspace/office accommodations for commercial use.

The commitment we are looking for is simple. All members of the board to attend our quarterly board meetings held in May, August, November, and February.

Step forward and let us know how you can enrich our organisation. As a board of unpaid volunteer directors with diverse skills and knowledge, we are seeking individuals who possess the skills, expertise, and vision to complement our existing team. Your level of involvement is entirely flexible, with opportunities to actively contribute to the operation and management of our business.

We are particularly eager to welcome individuals with expertise in I.T. / digital technology to enhance our business technological capabilities.

Additionally, as we expand our business accommodation, we are seeking individuals with knowledge or experience in facilities management to offer insights and ideas for optimising our operations.

The Mission of our board is to revitalise our town and instil civic pride in our community, and with good people onboard we can work to achieve this.
